Bob Bryan from ‘Bert and I’ passed away Wednesday at the age of 87.
Marshall Dodge and Bryan released their first album in 1958. They started the duo in their Yale University dorm room, writing the characters and bits that epitomized Maine.
Bryan was originally from Long Island, New York, but spent summers in Maine. He learned the way Mainers talked and their great sense of humor.
The original “You can’t get there from here” was about Millinocket. Listen to the audio below.
He was also a minister and bought a float plane to worship with fishing villages in Quebec’s northern regions.
