An impressive honor for two Maine establishments!

When the iconic New York Times recognizes you, someone is doing something right, especially when it comes to year end lists.

They decided to do a piece on "Best Dishes We Ate Across the U.S. in 2025" Not a bad gig, huh?

After several months of traveling to more than 30 states and sampling dishes in hundreds of restaurants all across America, they chose 25 of their favorites. For sure, this was no easy task.

From soups to sweets, from entrees to sandwiches, or yummy apps, so many left a lasting impression on the folks from the New York Times, who were lucky enough to taste these amazing creations.

The fact that a Maine restaurant make would this list is pretty incredible, but two businesses made the cut!

We all know that here in the 207, there are some top notch restaurants, and Portland is far and away, one of the ultimate destinations in all of New England for fine dining, but this year they did not make the cut!

Here are the two Maine restaurants that made the "Best of 2025" list:

Pilgrim's Inn on Deer Isle

It’s an old, charming inn with tons of character, porch-sitting potential, and gorgeous harbor views that make you want to relax & enjoy.

The vibe is relaxed and friendly—more “kick back and stay awhile” than fancy! The food is a big bonus, whether you’re staying overnight or just stopping in.

It’s the kind of place where mornings are quiet, evenings are cozy, and you leave already thinking about when you can come back.

Sammy's Deluxe in Rockland

This spot in Rockland, feels like a chef’s cozy, creative dinner party rather than a snooty, upscale restaurant, think inventive Maine-inspired dishes, and a vibe that’s equal parts quirky and delicious.

The menu changes with the seasons, so you might dive into house-smoked haddock, foraged mushrooms, or a melon bisque.

People rave about the local, fresh ingredients and laid-back energy.

Congrats to these two fine Maine dining establishments!
