Bears Battle Bulldogs For Homecoming
For just the second time this season the UMaine football team will get to play at Alfond Stadium as they host the Yale Bulldogs in their homecoming game.This wiil be the first meeting between the two programs in 78 years and the Bulldogs have never lost to Maine, owning a 7-0-1 all-time record. This will also be the first time the teams have played a game in Orono. Maine enters the game with a 2-3 record while Yale is off to a 3-1 start.
Maine is coming off a win over Albany a week ago where it rolled up 469 yards of total offense and continued to impress on defense where they are ranked second in the conference against the run.
Maine Connections: Yale has three coaches on its staff with ties to the UMaine program. Jordan Stevens is the Bulldogs defensive line coach and is a Mt. Blue high grad and a former defensive end and assistant coach with the Bears. Defensive Coordinator Steve Vashel coached at Maine for 3 seasons as the defensive backs coach, and Kevin Cahill spent 4 seasons in Orono as the special teams coach. He currently serves as the Bulldogs quarterback coach.
