Bangor Woman Pleads Guilty to Stealing Social Security Benefits
A 60-year-old Bangor woman pleaded guilty of stealing SSI benefits Monday in U.S. District Court.
Shirley Reynolds was living with her husband when she falsely represented to the Social Security Administration that she lived alone from 2009 to 2016, according to court records.
Officials said she lied about her living situation so her SSI benefits would not be reduced or eliminated.
She faces five years in prison and a $250,000 fine. She will be sentenced after completion of presentence investigation report by the U.S. Probation Office, said officials.
The case was investigated by the SSA, Office of the Inspector General.
