Maine’s ‘The Nite Show’ 15 Years Of Highlights In 7 Minutes
A unique local television experience came to an end on Saturday night
After an incredible penultimate episode that featured David Letterman, our friend Danny Cashman wrapped up the Nite Show with his last broadcast over the weekend.
It must have been hard to whittle down 15 years of television highlights in just 7 minutes, but they did it, and you absolutely watch it. It is a great reminder of what they accomplished, with a late night talk show in Bangor, Maine
I remember being pretty depressed when my buddy Dan Cashman left his job here years ago. We had a fantastic working relationship, and friendship.
However, I knew he wanted to move on to other opportunities, and boy has he.
He was Press Secretary for Governor Baldacci, then he began a reboot of his local talk show, which is currently celebrating its 15th and final season on WABI TV-5.
The very idea of a locally based talk show in this day and age of streaming, thriving for 15 years, is a very impressive feat.
Since 2010, Dan has had an impressive array of guests, most of them with ties to Maine. Famous actors, musicians, politicians, and local personalities have made his show a success that regularly beats Saturday Night Live in its 11:30pm time slot.
All good things must come to an end...for The Nite Show, that happened on Saturday night.
Watch Dan's final thoughts before signing off, and give him a round of applause for his fantastic program!
