Just a few days before the "official" start of winter, folks in Northern Maine and Western New Brunswick will see a whole lot of snow. The National Weather Service has posted a  winter storm warning starting late this afternoon for most of Aroostook County.  A heavy snowfall warning is up for Carleton County, New Brunswick, especially in the Woodstock area. The heaviest snowfall is expected overnight and early tomorrow. Temperatures will hold steady near the freezing mark.  Snow could mix with sleet in areas south of Presque Isle.

Because of the track of the storm, snowfall totals will vary widely.   Snow could pile up anywhere from 6 to 18 inches by the time the storm winds down late in the day Wednesday.
