Police say an 81-year-old man from the Burtts Corner, N.B. area has died after being struck by a vehicle early Wednesday morning.

Keswick RCMP responded to a pedestrian collision on Route 104, shortly before 7:45 a.m., according to Sgt. Andrea Gallant.

It's believed the man was trying to cross the road when he was struck. Police say he died at the scene.

RCMP, firefighters and paramedics responded to the accident near the Clark's Chick Hatchery in Burtts Corner. The highway was closed for about 5 hours.

The investigation is ongoing. We’ll have more information as it becomes available.
