75-Year-Old Woman Dies in Crash on I-95
State Police say a Howland woman was killed Wednesday afternoon when the car driven by her husband overturned off Interstate 95 in Edinburg, near the Howland town line.
The victim is 75-year-old Lucy Plourde. Her 79-year-old husband, Edward Plourde, suffered serious injuries and was taken to EMMC in Bangor.
Troopers said Plourde was driving northbound when his car drifted into the median, reentered the road, crossed both lanes and came to rest in the ditch off the travel lane.
Lucy Plourde died at the crash site.
Troopers were assisted by Howland EMS and the Maine Department of Transportation.
Police said, anyone who may have witnessed the crash or saw the 1997 Ford Crown Victoria immediately before is asked to call State Police in Bangor at 973-3700.
