ABC scored big in the ratings on Wednesday night (Nov. 13) with its three-hour broadcast of the 2019 CMA Awards. All six half-hour blocks ranked first in total viewers in the coveted 18-49 adult demographic.

Per a press release, ABC earned its largest Wednesday night audience in two years with the 2019 CMA Awards, beating its nearest competition, NBC, by 4.3 million viewers. More impressively, this year’s CMA Awards broadcast netted a 12 percent growth in total viewers compared to 2018.

Social media engagement also soared, with Nielsen Social reporting 2.4 million interactions across Instagram, Facebook and Twitter -- a 104 percent increase over last year’s broadcast. The quick posting of select full performances to Facebook and Twitter surely aided this increase.

As of Friday morning (Nov. 15), Vevo’s YouTube video of the 2019 CMA Awards opening medley featuring Terri Clark, Sara Evans, Crystal Gayle, the Highwomen, Martina McBride, Reba McEntire, Jennifer Nettles, Dolly Parton, Tanya Tucker, Carrie Underwood and Gretchen Wilson has picked up over a million views. Pop crossover moments teaming Chris Stapleton with Pink and Lady Antebellum with Halsey have also performed well online.

The 2019 CMA Awards ceremony was billed as a celebration of women in country music, featuring Underwood, McEntire and Parton as co-hosts. Luke Combs and Musgraves won two trophies apiece, while Garth Brooks came away with the coveted Entertainer of the Year award.
