What was that?! More accurately, WHO was that? Those were a couple of the reactions I overheard after witnessing a band called 12/OC over Labor Day weekend. This band from Portland, Maine was opening for the opener of the opener for headliner Walker Hayes at Maine Savings Amphitheater on Friday, August 30th, 2024.

This review is absolutely zero disrespect for Walker Hayes, Tenille Arts, and Kylie Morgan, who were all absolutely fantastic on this particular Friday evening. 12/OC was an unexpected part of the show. Many had arrived early because they were aware and love this local band, but most were simply pleasantly surprised. To put 12/OC's performance into a metaphor, it was like reaching into your coat pocket for warmth, and you find a $100 bill. This 12/OC band blew everyone away.

On a personal note, I was attending the show because I adore Kylie and her voice, and I love the energy and party vibe of Walker Hayes. I knew it was going to be a fun concert. What I didn't know and who I had never even heard of before, was this band called 12/OC from Portland, kicking the entire show off right at 6:30. I was told by many that I needed to make sure that I was there to witness. I am absolutely grateful that this was one of the rare times I heeded advice.

Who Is 12/OC from Maine?

Straight from their website ...

12/OC originated from the family kitchen in Portland, Maine. Brothers, Will and Reid at ages 14 and 11, entered the country music world through jam sessions and open mic nights. Their growing fan base quickly expanded beyond the boundaries of Maine, as they caught the attention of listeners near and far. With a chart-topping hit song on Maine’s Premier Country Music station for an impressive 16 weeks, their talent was unmistakable. Awards and recognition in New England further solidified their strong presence in the industry. Renowned for their infectiously playful songs and unwavering dedication, 12/OC never fails to bring a unique and vibrant energy to every performance, leaving an indelible mark on the country music scene.

I have been told that the story behind their name "12/OC" is quite unique and synonymous to the hard work they put into everything they do. I hope to one day hear more.

As they continue to climb the ladder of success, 12/OC remains grounded and grateful for the support of their loyal fanbase. Their journey from local underdogs to rising country music stars is a testament to their passion, dedication, and unwavering brotherly bond. With their infectious energy and undeniable talent, Will, Reid, and the boys of 12/OC are poised to conquer not just Maine, but the hearts of country music fans everywhere.

I am thankful that I got to see 12/OC from Portland, Maine and quite frankly, shocked that I haven't heard of them earlier based purely on this one performance. I think everyone needs to know who they are and to keep an eye not only their careers, but on where they are performing next. This new fan promises that you will not be disappointed if you catch one of their shows.
