For UMaine's eight seniors, every game they play starting with tonight's WNIT opener could be their last one. It is that time of the year in the college basketball world.

The opponent tonight, the (24-8) Quinnipiac Bobcats, lost in their conference championship game as did the (26-8) Black Bears.

And so they meet tonight in Connecticut.

Here's what the number say...

> The two teams have played twice with Quinnipiac winning both times. The last game was 2009 and it was 68-59.

> The Black Bears are 1-5 in WNIT games.

> The Bears and Bobcats have three common opponents this year - Vermont, Hartford and Northeastern. Maine scored wins over Vermont and Hartford but lost the Northeastern. Quinnipiac beat all three teams.

> The Bears had the best defense in AE. The Bobcats had the best offense in the MAAC.

> Sigi Koizar leads Maine is scoring, 17.7 PPG. Maria Napolitano leads Quinnipiac at 10.7 PPG but went down with a knee injury in the conference semi-final.

> The Black Bears had won 14 in a row before the loss to Albany. The Bobcats had won 19 in a row before losing to Iona.

NOTE: UMaine officials say if the Black Bears win there is a 50/50 chance of hosting a second round, depending on the outcome of the Temple vs Drexel game.
