The National Weather Service in Caribou has posted a Winter Storm Warning beginning early Monday morning until Tuesday evening across northern Aroostook County.

Snow is expected to move into the area early Monday and mix with sleet and freezing rain at times.

The storm has a potential to drop 5-9 inches of snow Monday and Tuesday along with ice accumulations of around a quarter on an inch. The higher snowfall totals are expected in northern parts of the County. A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for southern Aroostook.

Icing conditions may result in downed trees and power lines, according to the National Weather Service office in Caribou. Winds are expected to be from the east between 10 to 20 mph with gusts up to 25 mph.

Forecasters advise you to prepare for hazardous driving conditions especially north of Houlton over the first two days of the work week.
