A winter storm moving into Aroostook County and western New Brunswick late Monday night will bring heavy snow, sleet and freezing rain to the area.

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning for central and northern Aroostook County with 7 to 12 inches of snow and sleet expected by early Wednesday. Environment Canada has issued a similar Snowfall Warning for Victoria and Madawaska counties, New Brunswick.

Forecasters say the heavy mixed precipitation will create some difficult travel conditions, especially on Tuesday.

Snowfall in southern Aroostook and Carleton Counties is expected to be less, as warmer temperatures will turn snow to rain and freezing rain later in the day.

The latest expected snowfall totals are outlined below.
