William Michael Morgan didn't write his current single, "Missing," but it caught his attention  from first listen. The singer says that the song, written by Rhett Akins and Marv Green, resonated with him in part because of how hectic his life has become.

"It’s message is more of, at least how I take it is, this whole world will beat you down -- just life in general, your job, your babies, your kids -- they’ll beat you down. It’s all about just getting lost for a little bit," Morgan told The Boot and other reporters at a recent media event. "Whether missing means going out on the ocean somewhere and fishing, or sitting in a stand somewhere in the woods, or just turning off your phone and watching a little TV, anything but the news.

"But I think everybody needs to get missed, and just clear their head off, rejuvenate for a while," Morgan adds. "That’s kind of why I gravitated toward the song so much."

Morgan is enjoying plenty of opportunities to perform his new single while he crosses the country on the American Made Tour with co-headliners Justin Moore and Lee Brice.

"It’s been a lot of fun watching those guys, Lee and Justin both, as far as their live shows go, how they treat the fans after or before the shows, and just how they carry themselves, on- and offstage," Morgan says. "I think that Justin and Lee’s crew are both some of the top-notch people out on the road right now; I think that they go out of their way more than most, and more than necessary even, to make sure that we’re taken care of and that we’re happy.

"We’re becoming a big family out there, and I’m trying to get my drinking game up so I can stay up there," Morgan jokes. "I’m trying to work on my cowboy hat game."

A list of all of Morgan's upcoming shows is available on his website. "Missing" is available for download on iTunes.
