Cole Taylor may be a new name on country radio, but the artist actually has a solid history in songwriting. The Georgia native, 23, has already written songs cut by Luke Bryan, Florida Georgia Line, Chase Rice and Rodney Atkins, and now, he's turning his focus to his own career as a performer.

With his debut single, "Cold Beer," released in mid-February, Taylor offers smooth vocals that practically float over a pop-centric, uptempo melody. The up-and-comer merges myriad influences into songs that stand out even as they fit in with today's popular country music. He grew up listening to Maroon 5 and Usher just as much as he did Garth Brooks and Travis Tritt, so Taylor's own tunes balance between traditional country and modern pop -- and, of course, at the heart of it all is the songwriting skills that he's been honing since he was just 14 years old.

“I want to be honest with people,” Taylor says on Facebook. “I don’t just sit and write for myself; I write for my fans and try to touch them with the songs, because some people don’t know how to say what they want to say. I observe other people and write about those situations they’re in so that maybe it can change somebody. Music has a powerful message in people’s lives."
