The National Weather Service in Caribou has issued a winter weather advisory across northern and central Aroostook County until early Sunday afternoon.

Freezing rain mixed with snow could make travel difficult in some areas until temperatures warm into the mid 30's Sunday afternoon.

Rain could become heavy for a time Sunday evening with winds between 20 -30 miles per hour, forecasters say.

Temperatures are expected to drop below freezing Monday afternoon, which will likely cause icy conditions across the region.
