Traditional sports enthusiasts may not place hot dog eating in the same ranks as football, baseball and boxing, but after watching this video, there is no possible way to deny that these fiends of the cylindrical meat circuit are true athletes.

Yesterday, at Coney Island, Joey Chestnut conquered the 2013 Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest by breaking his own record by devouring 69 hot dogs. And while this video is utterly disgusting, to say the least, it serves as proof that American competitors are prepared to do whatever it takes to take home the gold medal…or in this case, wiener.
