If you had plans to fly out of the Northern Maine Regional Airport this month, better make other plans.

On Friday, United Airlines regretfully informed the City of Presque Isle that they will not be able to start earlier than July 1.  While United clearly understands what it means to the community not to have air service, they are and must be committed to maintaining a high level of safety. The City is grateful for their thoughtful consideration of this matter and the work completed thus far to initiate service on July 1 which was already a pretty tight schedule.  (Work is already underway to enlarge the TSA area at Northern Maine Regional Airport to accommodate more passengers due to a larger jet aircraft coming in to serve the community.)  The new aircraft will be larger than the SAAB 340 used by Pen Air and will accommodate up to 50 passengers.

Scott Wardwell, Northern Maine Regional Airport Director, stated, “We are remaining positive and looking forward to regional jet service (the first in 40 years) to Newark with over 160 non-stop destinations on United alone.”

Anyone who has reservations to fly on Pen Air before July 1st, should contact Pen Air Reservations at 1-800-448-4226.
