Maryland Baltimore County scored at least one run in 5 of the first 6 innings on their way to a 9-5 win over the University of Maine on day one of the America East Tournament.UMBC got to UMaine starter Justin Courtney early and knocked him out of the game with one out in the third inning. Courtney allowed 4 runs on 5 hits and 2 walks.

The Bears got the bats going late but could not muster enough to overcome the deficit. Kevin Stypulkowski had 2 hits and 2 rbi to lead the Bears offense while Brett Chappelle also drove in 2 runs.

Maine must now go through the losers bracket to win the tourney and will face the #4 seed Hartford today at 1pm. The Hawks lost their opening game to the top seeded Stony Brook Seawolves 2-0.
