The season might be over for the University of Maine football team but one of its top performers is in the running for the National Freshman of the Year award.Wide receiver Micah Wright is one of 20 players from around the country up for the award. Stats FCS released the list Monday morning with the winner to be announced at the annual banquet that takes place on the eve of the national championship in Texas.

Wright was the second leading receiver in the CAA this season and top freshman with 61 catches for 818 yards. He had four 100-yard games and scored 5 touchdowns which is tied for 5th in the country among all freshmen in the country.

A national panel of sports information and media relations directors, broadcasters and writers will determine the winner of the award.
