The UMaine Black Bears scored three third period goals and put away the Brown University Bears 5-1 at the Cross Arena in Portland Saturday night.

It was Maine's second win in their last 12 games and improved the Bears record to 5-7-3. Attendance in Portland was 3,499.

Rob Michel and Cedric Lacroix scored goals to give Maine a 2-0 late in the second period. Brown scored with 30-seconds left to make it 2-1 after two periods.

The Bears put the game away in the third. A second Lacroix goal, a powerplay goal by Cam Brown and a shorthanded goal by Blake Byron made it a 5-1 final.

Rob McGovern stopped 27 shots.

The Black Bears play a home-and-home series with UNH next weekend.
