Poor shooting and too many turnovers cost the UMaine women in their season opener resulting in a 65-52 loss to the Bryant Bulldogs.The Bears dug a hole early and found themselves trailing by 16 at the half as Bryant outscored Maine 14-0 over the final 4:40. Turnovers were also costly for the Bears who committed 19 allowing the Bulldogs to score 18 points off those turnovers.

Maine shot just 3 for 18 behind the 3-point line and finished the game shooting just 38% as a team. Sophomore Sigi Koizer led the Bears with 16 points while Liz Wood added 11.

Next up for the Bears is their home opener against Long Island University Sunday at the Cross Center.
