Work crews are trying to repair tears in the Mahaney Dome on the UMaine campus. It is the first step in trying to determine how much damage was done when heavy, wet snow and wind caused the dome to collapse last week.

Once the tears get fixed, the dome will be inflated to make an assessment of what is needed for the next step.

The pressurized dome was built in 2006 with a gift from the late Larry Mahaney who donated a million dollars for the project.

It is a 200-feet by 200-feet structure and 55-feet high.

Most of the UMaine teams use the facility and it is often rented out to high school and community teams.

NOTE: Will Biberstein is the senior associate AD for internal operations. He will discuss the latest on how UMaine officials are dealing with the situation on Friday's 'Morning Pitch Show' from 6a-8a on Sports Radio 92.9 The Ticket.
