UM To Play At Frozen Fenway In 2016-17

The appearance for the Black Bears, as part of the Hockey East Conference’s “Frozen Fenway” series, will be the third time Maine has played on the historic baseball field.  The two previous encounters saw the Black Bears win 5-4 against New Hampshire in overtime in 2012 and 7-3 winners versus Boston University in 2014.

Massachusetts recently held a NHL Winter Classic event at Gillette Stadium in January of this year and previously held a game in Fenway Park as well.  The Hockey East conference has held games at Fenway since 2012.  Conditions for the game have varied with the game in 2014 that Maine played being troubled by rain and warm temperatures.
