UMaine hockey jumped out to a 3-0 lead in Sunday's exhibition game against St. Francis from Nova Scotia but ended up on the losing end of a 6-5 score.

Nolan Vesey, Jake Paparlardo and Eric Shurhamer first period goals.

St. Francis came back to score the next five goals - three on the powerplay and one shorthanded.

Blaine Byron and Chase Pearson scored the other UMaine goals.

St.Francis outshot Maine 36-32.

The Black Bears open regular season play next Friday and Saturday nights, hosting RPI at Alfond for two games.
