A two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Route 1 and Lyndon Street in Caribou late Saturday afternoon sent three people to the hospital with minor injuries.

Caribou Police Department and Caribou Fire and Ambulance responded to the accident around 4:15 p.m. after receiving multiple 911 calls.

Caribou police said one vehicle was struck on the rear driver’s side door and spun out. The other vehicle continued down the embankment and eventually came to rest against Sleeper's store. Police say the building sustained very little damage.

Traffic was shut down for about 30 minutes while emergency responders worked at the scene.

The two drivers and a passenger sustained minor injuries and were transported by ambulance to Cary Medical Center, police said.

Both vehicles were towed away due to disabling damage.

The accident remains under investigation by Officer Wilcox. The names of the drivers and passenger are not being released at this time.
