A blaze late Thursday night destroyed a house in Campbell Settlement, about 10 kilometres south of Woodstock. About a dozen firefighters from the Woodstock Fire Department responded just before midnight to the fire in a bungalow-style house.

Woodstock Fire Chief Ricky Nicholson told the Bugle-Observer that the building was leveled and a vehicle parked nearby was destroyed in the blaze.

A man and his teenage daughter were not home at the time. The Red Cross has arranged emergency lodging through the weekend and purchases of clothing and food, according to spokesman Dan Bedell.

Another fire Thursday in Perth-Andover displaced two men while they were out of the province working. Red Cross volunteers will meet with them to provide some help with clothing and food purchases on their return home in the next few days, Bedell said.
