A man and woman were arrested in Edmundston this week after police seized a large quantity of marijuana they say was intended to be sold on the streets.

Members of the Edmundston Police Force, assisted by the RCMP's Northwest Integrated Intelligence Unit, completed two simultaneous searches of city housing.

An initial search was conducted on Canada Road and another on 22nd Street in Edmundston.

Police say officers confiscated a large amount of marijuana that was destined for resale on the street level.

Two people, a 38-year-old man and a 35-year-old woman, were arrested in connection with the drug searches. They have both been released with promises to appear and conditions.

The two are scheduled to appear in provincial court in Edmundston on April 20.
