Troy Cartwright, ‘Arkansas’ Music Video [Exclusive Premiere]
Troy Cartwright, one of Texas’ most exciting country newcomers, is debuting the music video for his song “Arkansas” exclusively for readers of The Boot.
“Arkansas” appears on Cartwright's newest EP, Don’t Fade, released earlier this year. With the lush scenery of middle Tennessee serving as the backdrop for the song's accompanying video, the Dallas-based singer-songwriter explores love, loss and letting go in a heartfelt ode to the road and the solace — and understanding — that it can bring.
"Sometimes you need a trip like this to help you turn the page, but I also wanted to acknowledge the gravity of the situation that's still pulling me down," Cartwright explains. "Like this video, sometimes those thoughts are little distractions that quickly pass, and other times, they take over you completely. I think we've all spent many a restless night in and out of dreams that seem all too real, grappling with the uncertainty of where to go next.”
A graduate of Boston’s Berklee College of Music, Cartwright was born and raised in Texas. After receiving an acoustic guitar for Christmas at the age of 12, he started playing and discovering the work of legendary singer-songerwiters such as John Prine and Pete Yorn. From there, he’d go on to win the B.W. Stevenson Songwriting Competition and release a self-titled debut album that would spend several weeks on the Texas radio charts.
