About 35,000 homes and businesses in New Brunswick were still without power Thursday, 5 days after tropical storm Arthur swept across the region.

Some roads in western New Brunswick remain impassable due to washouts. Emergency shelters are set up to provide assistance to those in need.

NB Power says about 5 thousand homes and businesses in Carleton County were still off the grid Thursday afternoon.

About 22 thousand customers in the hard-hit Fredericton area have been without electricity since Saturday and all available crews are working to restore service as soon as possible.

Reception centers have been opened to allow residents a chance to charge their phones and electronic devices. These centers are located at:

  • Town of Hartland Fire Hall (water) (24hrs)
  • Dumfries Volunteer Fire Department
  • Village of Harvey Fire Department
  • Village of New Maryland Fire Department
  • Upper Kingsclear Fire Department
  • Keswick Valley Fire Department
  • Keswick Ridge Fire Department
  • Village of McAdam Fire Department
  • Nashwaak Valley Fire Department
  • Hoyt Fire Department
  • Woodstock Fire Hall – (24hrs)
  • Village of Bath Fire Hall – (9 a.m. to 9 p.m.)
  • Town of Meductic Fire Hall (24hrs) 506-272-2098
  • Village of Centreville Fire Hall – (8 a.m. to 5 p.m.)
  • Perth Andover Civic Centre – (9 a.m. to 4 p.m.)
  • Plaster Rock Tobique Plex – (9 a.m. to 4 p.m.)
  • City of Fredericton – Reception centers open at Grant Harvey and Willie O’Ree Rec Centres from (6 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily). Bulk water is available at both locations.
  • Rothesay/Quispamsis Civic Centre will open 8 July 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., QPlex (Showers) 6:30-9 a.m.
  • Oromocto - Town of Oromocto Municipal Building Centre from 9 a.m. – 10 p.m.
