The No. 1 song on the Top 40 Country Songs of May 2016 list is also the No. 1 song on our Top Songs of 2016 (So Far) list. It's a hit with fans, critics and radio and it's arguably this singer's most important song in over a decade.

Blake Shelton, Maren Morris and Dierks Bentley gave this superstar a challenge for the top spot, however. All three have new albums set for a release in the next four or five weeks, and all are eager for a No. 1 hit to kick off the next chapter in their lives. Shelton's "Came Here To Forget" grabs the No. 2 spot, but it's sure to be No. 1 on radio charts before month's end. He has quite a streak going.

Elsewhere find new singles from Jason Aldean, Florida Georgia Line and Lady Antebellum's Hillary Scott. "Thy Will" is Scott's first single from a Christian album expected later this year, and it's as powerful as she hoped. Scroll through the list, find your favorites for May 2016, or don't.
