Sean Penn recently called Tim McGraw to ask a favor: Would the country singer perform at his benefit event to help raise money for Haiti?

"I called Tim McGraw after having not seen Tim for a couple of years," Penn recently told The Tennessean, before explaining how McGraw immediately agreed to perform during the benefit. "It was just that quick."

On Tuesday (Oct. 24), McGraw joined Penn at the Brentwood home of celebrity jeweler Johnathon Arndt and his partner, Newman Arndt, to raise money for Penn's J/P Haitian Relief Organization. Additional local celebrities who attended the event included Carrie Underwood, Mike Fisher, Kimberly Williams-Paisley, Kix Brooks, Jewel, Scott and Tracie Hamilton, former Tennessee Sen. Bill Frist and comedian Kevin Nealon.

Penn first formed the organization in 2010 following the devastating earthquake in Haiti. The Tennessean reports that the evening included an auction, speeches from Penn and Frist, and a performance from McGraw.

McGraw is far from the only country artist lending his support to Haiti. Earlier this month, Underwood and her husband co-hosted the Danita's Children benefit dinner in Nashville. An organization close to the couple's heart, Danita's Children is dedicated to educating, empowering, and equipping the children and families of Haiti to become Christ-like leaders. The event went on to raise $500,000 for the cause.

Special guests for the invite-only evening included Elisabeth Hasselbeck and Henry Cho. Underwood and her husband first visited Haiti in 2014 and have supported the cause ever since.
