State Police say 20-year-old Cheuk Chan of Fredericton, New Brunswick was traveling north on the Interstate shortly after 2 p.m. Chan was attempting to pass two vehicles when he lost control of his car on the slush-covered roadway and skidded off of the left side of the highway, striking a guard rail, according to a press release from Sgt. Jeffrey Clark.

Chan’s car then slid out into the highway, and struck both of the vehicles, one driven by 68-year-old Allen Lefay of Palmyra, and the other driven by his wife, Cheryl Lefay. All three were wearing seatbelts and there were no injuries reported.

Mr. Chan was issued a traffic summons for imprudent speed, Clark said.

State Trooper Carman Lilly investigated.
