After all of that pesky weather, the stars aligned over Bangor on Sunday night as The Chicks made a much-awaited stop at the Maine Savings Amphitheater during their "The Chicks World Tour 2023."

Remember when The Chicks, formerly known as Dixie Chicks, rocked Bangor in 2016? Well, they were back, and this time they brought an energy that could rival a thunderstorm (literally).

The evening started off with Canadian folk group Wild Rivers. Devan Glover's vocals were fantastic, bringing a groove and rhythm that, for someone who didn’t know much about them, was a very welcome surprise. She was also wearing a Phoenix Suns jersey, and I love basketball, so they certainly earned a fan in me. Wild Rivers closed out their set with the song “Thinking ‘bout Love.” Bangor was the last stop on this leg of the tour for Wild Rivers, however they will rejoin The Chicks on September 20th in Columbia, MD.

And then, the stage belonged to none other than The Chicks. A roaring applause from Bangor welcomed them, a testament to the lasting impact they've had throughout the years.

Yet, it wasn't just nostalgia (and rain) that filled the air. The Chicks performed a well-balanced set, featuring popular classics such as "Wide Open Spaces," "Cowboy Take Me Away," and their cover of “Landslide,” along with tracks from their latest album "Gaslighter."

Now, let's take a quick detour. Before the show, I watched the "Goodbye Earl" music video for the first time, and I was so excited to see that Jane Krakowski was in it. I love Jane Krakowski.

That being said, The Chicks knew exactly how to end the night. With a rousing performance of "Goodbye Earl." They sent the crowd home happy, albeit ready to commit some crimes to fellas named “Earl,” but it’s alright, ‘cause Earl had to die.

With their next destination set in Columbus, Ohio, on Wednesday, we can't help but wonder - will it be another seven years until we get The Chicks' in Bangor again? Only time will tell, but one thing's for sure: when The Chicks do come back, Bangor will be ready.
