Thirty-eight-year-old Karen Lewis of Houlton was injured when a vehicle struck her 2007 Toyota Camry from behind and forced it off the northbound lanes of the highway. The driver of the other vehicle fled the scene, according to State Police.

With the public’s help, Trooper Tim Saucier located the vehicle and operator on Tuesday. State police say 28-year-old Aulton Fiegel of Galveston, Texas was found at a hotel in Houlton and the vehicle, a 2016 Ford F-350 was found at a local garage.

Fiegel was charged with Leaving the Scene of a Personal Injury Crash, Driving to Endanger, and Operating After Suspension. Police say he was wearing his seat belt and was not injured in the crash. The pickup sustained significant front end damage.

Fiegel’s court date is January 17 at Houlton District Court.
