Teens Injured in Late Night Rollover in Linneus [PHOTOS]

State Police say they responded to numerous weather-related crashes over the Thanksgiving weekend, including a rollover in Linneus that sent two teens to the hospital.

Trooper Adam Bell was called to U.S. Route 2A in Linneus around 11:30 Saturday night after a 2000 GMC Sierra pickup went off the snow-covered road and overturned onto its driver’s side.

The driver, a 16-year-old boy from Hodgdon and his female passenger, also a teenager, were not wearing seat belts, according to a statement from Corporal Corey Hafford. The driver was partially ejected, and the pickup pinned his leg to the ground, preventing his escape from the cab of the truck.

Rescue crews from Houlton Fire Department and Houlton Ambulance freed the driver and passenger. Both teens were taken by ambulance to Houlton Regional Hospital with injuries that were not considered life threatening, Hafford said.

Police say the driver was travelling too fast for the road conditions. The pickup’s rear tires also had insufficient tread and contributed to the crash.

The operator was summonsed for not using a seat belt.
