The Song Suffragettes took the opportunity to pay tribute to one of the most important female artists in contemporary music on a recent Monday night in Nashville, when they covered a key track from Taylor Swift.

The five #LetTheGirlsPlay artists who graced the stage of the Listening Room in Music City on Jan. 23 are at the age where they almost certainly grew up amid Taylormania in country music, and they saluted her indelible mark on country music with a group cover of "Our Song," which gave Swift her very first No. 1 hit when she released it as the third single from her self-titled debut album in 2007.

From left to right in the video above, Emma White, Emily Ann Roberts, Kalie Shorr, Emily Reid and Kolby Koloff give an upbeat, fun performance of the song, sticking pretty close to Swift's original intent but stripping away all of the instrumentation save Shorr's acoustic guitar for an arrangement that's a light-hearted sing-along tribute to the innocence of Swift's earliest material.

The Suffragettes perform each Monday night in a rotating roster of five, sharing their own original songs and then coming together at the end of each performance for a cover that usually honors a female artist who has been influential to other women in country music. Swift is a particularly apt choice, since she changed the face of country music forever when she kicked down the doors for young women 10 years ago.

The #LetTheGirlsPlay movement launched to push forward against the limited opportunities for women at every level of the music business in Nashville, and it's been working. We've seen women make a lot of progress over the past two years, but there's a lot more to do, and Taste of Country continues to be a proud partner in the movement. Look for a new cover once a week on the site, as well as other content and a monthly featured artist. This month's featured artist is Lacy Cavalier.
