Tanya Tucker Hospitalized, Cancels Shows
Tanya Tucker has postponed a run of upcoming live performances after being hospitalized.
The country star is currently recovering in a Nashville hospital from an upper respiratory infection that struck while she was in the middle of a North American tour. The 58-year-old singer became ill before a scheduled date in South Dakota and sought treatment from local doctors before heading home to Nashville to recover.
According to KSFY in Watertown, S.D., Tucker was diagnosed with pneumonia at a local clinic and airlifted to Nashville the following day. She hoped to re-schedule her show at the Dakota Sioux Casino for Oct. 19, but had to cancel all remaining dates, including the re-scheduled Watertown show, when her condition worsened.
Tucker has postponed six shows, beginning with the concert on Oct. 7 in Watertown and ending with a show in Washington Sate on Oct. 16.
"I cannot apologize enough to all the fans who bought tickets and were looking forward to seeing us on the road," the singer says in a press release. "I just feel terrible, but I’ll get even worse if I don’t take care of myself. I love you all."
Tucker returned to recording and touring in 2015 after a number of years away from the spotlight, during which she battled depression after the deaths of her parents, as well as a cosmetic procedure that went wrong.
“I probably spent half a million dollars on doctors,” she told Closer Weekly. “I took medications, did shock treatments and tried everything with the exception of being put into a straitjacket.”
Tucker was previously hospitalized in March of 2016 when she came down with bronchitis, forcing her to cancel a show in Florida.
