Authorities have identified the man who was fatally shot by a deputy during a standoff yesterday in Presque Isle, Maine.

The Presque Isle Police Department responded to a call around noontime of a man shooting a handgun behind 174 Main Street. Officers responded immediately and were assisted by Maine State Police, Aroostook County Sheriffs, Presque Isle Fire Department and other agencies

It was a wild afternoon for Maine State Police, the Maine Forest Service and several other area agencies as a pursuit took place that led authorities through multiple counties.

Officers in the East Millinocket area were alerted to be on the lookout for a vehicle driving erratically on I-95 northbound near mile marker 220.
