Here are a few of the incidents investigated by Troop F of the Maine State Police in early December. These items from the weekly police log are only minimally edited for clarity.
Now 36-year-old Melissa Carney of Presque Isle is charged with Aggravated Trafficking Scheduled Drugs-Resulting in Death. An Aroostook County Grand Jury indicted Carney on November 18, 2021, and she was taken into custody on December 1. She was processed and is now out on bail until her next appearance.
The U.S. Department of Justice announced that $139 million in grants will be distributed to agencies across to the country to hire and advance community policing. Agencies in Maine will receive $750,000 in grants, with $500,000 of that directed to two Aroostook County departments.
Nancy Perkins of Patten, was traveling north in her 2019 Ford when she struck the buggy from behind. The horse drawn cart was being maneuvered by Lydia Miller of Stacyville, at the time of the crash. Three daughters of Lydia were riding in the cart and were ejected, when the cart was struck.
The Maine State Police, Aroostook County Sheriff's Office, several other area agencies responded to an incident in the Mars Hill and Blaine area on Wednesday afternoon.
