Country superstar Sammy Kershaw scored his only No.1 song on this day in 1993.  The song, ‘She Don’t Know She’s Beautiful,’ was the first single from his album Haunted Heart.

On this day in 1992, Aaron Tippin’s first single became his first No.1 song.  ‘There Ain’t Nothin’ Wrong with the Radio’ is a love song about a beat-up car that Aaron drove to Nashville looking for his big break.  You can find it on his debut album called Read Between the Lines.

Before Ricky Skaggs went back to his true love, bluegrass music, he was huge country music superstar.  On this day in 1982 he scored his third country hit and his first No.1 song with ‘Crying My Heart Out Over You.’

Patsy Cline first had a hit with the Hank Cochran song “She’s Got You” back in 1962.  Though it has been covered by everyone from LeAnn Rimes to Jimmy Buffet, on this day in 1977 it was a No.1 hit for a good friend of Patsy’s, Loretta Lynn.

On this day in 1978, superstars Dottie West and Kenny Rogers established a winning combination when their duet ‘Every Time Two Fools Collide’ reached the No.1 spot on the country charts.  It was the first single and title cut from a full album of West/Rogers duets.

Wynonna had the No.1 song in the country on this day in 1992 with, "She Is His Only Need."   It was the first song 'Wy' released after her mother/daughter duo The Judds called it quits.

On this day in 1977, Kenny Rogers scored a No.1 hit with ‘Lucille.’  It was the second and final single released from his self-titled album.  It was his first major hit since leaving the country/rock group The First Edition.

On this day in 1975, Johnny Rodriguez scored his fourth No.1 song with the Larry Gatlin penned ‘I Just Can’t Get Her Out of My Mind.’  The song was at No.1 for one week and stayed on the chart for nine.

Gary Morris landed his third No.1 song on this day in 1986 with ‘100% Chance of Rain.’  The song settled in the top spot for one week but spent an amazing thirteen weeks on the chart.

They call him ‘King George’ and with his string of hits it’s no wonder.  George Strait had the No.1 album in country music on this day in 1987.  The album, ‘Ocean Front Property,’ is a multi-platinum selling juggernaut that ranked #5 on CMT’s list of 40 Greatest Albums in Country Music back in 2006.  Watch the title cut below.
