On Tuesday, Senator Susan Collins announced $14.4 million will be invested in airports across the State of Maine as part of the Airport Improvement Program.

It was announced on Tuesday morning that seven Maine airports were awarded federal grants totaling more than $2 million from the Federal Aviation Administration to be used for general improvements and safety enhancements, two of them are in Aroostook County.

Rep. Mike Michaud has announced the Houlton International Airport and the Sugarloaf Regional Airport will receive $450,000 in operations and environmental assessment grants.

The U.S. Department of Transportation approved funding for a number of Maine’s airports earlier today.
