A Maine State Trooper was injured late Tuesday night when his cruiser struck a moose while he was responding to a car-moose collision just south of Van Buren.
Trooper Dennis Quint was northbound on Route 1 in Cyr Plantation around 11:30 p.m. when a moose crossed the road in front of him, according to State Police Sgt. Brian L. Harris. Trooper Quint was unable to avoid the moose and it struck the driver's side of his vehicle.
The cruiser, a 2013 Ford interceptor, was destroyed. Quint sustained cuts to his head and hand and was transported by Caribou Fire & Ambulance to Cary Medical Center where he was treated and released.
The Caribou Police Department also responded to the accident.
