Four gold balls will be handed out this weekend for high school boys basketball in games played in Bangor, Augusta and Portland.Class A: Russ Bartlett's Hampden Broncos will be playing in their fourth straight state title and face a familiar opponent in the Portland Bulldogs. Portland beat Hampden last year and both enter the game with 19-2 records. Hampden won the title in 2013 and over the last four years have a record of 82-5.

Class B:This game will take place Friday night in Portland and featurethe Eastern Maine Champion Medomak Valley Panther who are just two years removed from their last state title appearance, a game they last won in 1980. Medomak is led by junior Nick DePatsy who scored 51 points in regional play. Their opponent is Cape Elizabeth who used a late run to beat Lake Region in the Western Maine Championship.

Class C: Calais will play Dirigo, the number two seed form the west Saturday night at the Cross Center for the gold ball. Calais is led by seniors, Kyle Johnson, Andre Paul and Tyler Niles who were all instrumental in the Eastern Maine Tournament. Niles and Paul were key factors in the Blue Devils overtime win in the regional title game. Dirigo had to fend off the upset minded Maranacook Black Bears in the west and are led by Riley Robinson who poured in 24 points in the game.

Class D: The 18-4 Fort Fairfield Tigers will be playing in their first state title game since 1988 when they lost to Old Orchard Beach. Sophomore Chris Giberson was the MVP of the class D Eastern Maine tournament and gets plenty of support from seniors Robbie Watson and Hunter Beaulier. To claim the gold ball they have to beat a Forest Hills team that won the tile just two years ago. The Tigers have a big time scorer in Ryan Petrin who put up 32 points in the Western Maine title game.
