Aroostook County Sheriff’s Deputies were called to the single vehicle crash on Main Street in St. Francis shortly after 10:00 p.m.

According to Chief Deputy Sheriff Darrell Crandall, 37-year-old Corey Ouellette was traveling at a high rate of speed and lost control of his Chevrolet Impala. The vehicle rolled over and caught on fire.

Local residents helped Ouellette out of the burning car and he was taken by Fort Kent Ambulance to Northern Maine Medical Center. He was later transferred to Eastern Maine Medical Center with serious but non-life threatening injuries.

Excessive speed is a factor, Crandall said, but the accident remains under investigation. Fort Kent and St. Francis Fire Departments responded to the scene and Maine State Police were asked to send an accident reconstructionist.  Ouellette's vehicle is a total loss.
