Pedro Martinez will be inducted into baseball's Hall of Fame July 26th. The Red Sox now say they will retire his #45 just two days later in Fenway Park.

It will be the ninth Sox number on the rightfield facade...#1 Bobby Doerr, #4 Joe Cronin, #6 Johnny Pesky, #8 Carl Yastrzemski, #9 Ted Williams, #14 Jim Rice, #27 Carlton Fisk and #42 Jackie Robinson(retired throughout baseball).

Pedro spent 7 seasons in Boston, winning three Cy Young Awards. His 117-37 record is the best winning percentage in club history.

Now 43-years-old, Martinez has been an assistant to GM Ben Cherington for the past two years.

The Red Sox play the Chicago White Sox on that Tuesday, July 28th date.
