On senior day at the Winkin Complex the Husson Football team bounced back from last week's loss to beat Mt. Ida 20-7 behind the running of John Smith. The Eagles were playing without starting quarterback Joe Seccareccia who had his season come to an end with a broken foot suffered last week. Sophomore running back John Smith picked up the load with 39 carries for 198 yards and two touchdowns.

Freshman quarterback Corey Brandon got his first start and threw for 110 yards on 12-21 passing and a touchdown strike to Robenson Saintard.

Husson's defense limited the Mustangs to just 108 total yards of offense including 18 yards on the ground. Ellis Throckmorton led the charge with a game high 13 tackles while Rick Orio and Jean Gabriel each had an interception.

The win improves the Eagles record to 7-2 on the season and now wait to see if they get a bid for an ECAC Bowl game. Those 6 games will take place next weekend and Husson is one of 26 teams who hope to land one of the 12 spots available. Those teams are expected to be announced Monday.
