One of the 10 spots in next month's Senior League World Series at Mansfield Stadium in Bangor goes to the Maine District #3 champion and the competition to be that team starts tonight.

The Senior League division of Little League Baseball is for 14-16 year old players and the international event is held in Bangor from August 1st through August 8th.  Five USA regional teams plus teams representing Latin American, Canada, Asia-Pacific and Europe-Africa compete for the world championship.

Here is the opening night schedule for District #3 play...

5:30pm  Bangor vs Bronco/Hermon  at Bordick Park/Hampden

5:30pm Holbrook vs Sebasticook Valley at Hedderigg Field/Brewer

Two other teams received first round byes - Old Town and Brewer/Orrington. They begin district play on Friday night.

The district championship game is scheduled for next Tuesday, July 21st at 7:30pm at Mansfield Stadium with an if necessary game on Wednesday July 22nd.
