The Mars Hill Fire Department received the call shortly after 7 p.m. Fire Chief Darrell Wilson tells us the blaze appears to have started in the garage and spread to the two-story home.

The Bridgewater and Easton Fire Departments provided mutual aid and additional tankers to battle the blaze. U.S. Border Patrol helped with traffic control. Fire crews remained on scene for about 4 hours Thursday evening, Wilson said.

The  family includes a woman, her son and daughter-in-law and three children. There were no injuries reported in the fire. The State Fire Marshal's office is investigating the cause.

Chief Wilson said the family lost nearly all their belongings in the fire.  A Go Fund Me page has been set up by family members to help with emergency needs.
