UMaine guard Sigi Koizar scored 21 points, including the 1,000th point of her career as the Black Bears beat the Vermont Catamounts 63-51.

Koizar is just the 8th player in program history to get 1,000 points in her third year.

The team won for the 16th straight time at home.

Liz Wood filled the stat sheet again - 11 points, 9 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals.

The win puts Maine at 8-1 in America East play and 17-7 overall. Vermont is 2-7 and 7-15.

 

In Burlington, Vermont, the UMaine men's basketball team lost to the Catamounts 85-68. The Black Bears got outscored in the paint 56-20 and the Cats size allowed them to get 23 second chance points.

Vermont went on a 12-0 run with about a dozen minutes left in the game to break it open.

Ethan O'Day had 23 point to lead the Catamounts.

Maine was led by Aaron Calixte with 15 and Devine Eke with 14.

The Black Bears drop to 4-5 in AE, 8-14 overall. Vermont is 6-3, 14-10.
